Colin Simkin

Sector Experience

Colin Simkin brings more than three decades of experience working with principals of Australian accounting practices.

That experience has given him a detailed understanding of the relationship between practice performance, ownership and the commercial factors that influence value.

Through Practice Succession, Colin has scrutinised and presented accounting practices to purchasers, negotiated price and terms, and led successful sales nationally, often based on a multiple of earnings. His structured and meticulous approach examines financial and commercial details throughout the process, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome for the client.

For valuation clients, that experience informs how earnings adjustments, client retention, principal dependence, staffing and transaction evidence are assessed. It provides practical context for the analysis and the questions that stakeholders may ask of it.

Professional credentials

Colin holds a Bachelor of Business from Federation University Australia and a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management.

He also holds the Australian Institute of Business Brokers' CPBB certification and Registered Business Valuer qualification.

His valuation qualification strengthens the technical discipline underpinning his established work with practice owners. In 2026, Colin received the AIBB RBV Academic Award, recognising his achievement as the highest-performing student in his Registered Business Valuer course.

These credentials support a continuing commitment to professional rigour.

The client benefit is an assessment in which the financial analysis, evidence and commercial judgement are clearly explained.
